The wonderful mountain landscapes, the beauty of the Dolomites, the snow-clad houses… you might expect to find a panorama like this on a postcard!
During the Christmas holiday, Val Gardena gets even more magical… sometimes Christmas seems to be born right here!
Many events are organised on the occasion of this beloved festivity.
For example, we have talked about the Christmas market in Santa Cristina. The market in Ortisei, called “Il Paese di Natale” (the Christmas town), is also well-known and loved by visitors.
But here comes the news: also Selva Gardena will host a Christmas market this year, and so Val Gardena becomes a veritable “Christmas Valley”!
This new market, named “Mountain Christmas”, will be open until 6 January 2015.
Its central theme is the world of skiing.
In effect, the ski runs will be ideally moved to the centre of Selva for the first time.
Small log cabins will be hung along a continuous strip of lights (350 meters long) and a typical mountain town will be recreated, with wooden or stone houses, to recall the old buildings.
A joyful atmosphere will warm your hearts: you can taste typical homemade sweets, buy objects that are handmade or carved out of wood, enjoy lights, colours, smells and listen to the traditional Christmas songs.
A suggestive exhibition of nativity scenes carved out of wood will take place in the square of the church.
Moreover, if you love winter sports, the snow could make you feel like doing your favourite activities: ski, cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing…
Ski lovers will find a veritable paradise: Dolomiti Superski, the ski resort with about 1220 km of ski runs for skiers of every level.
