The ski lifts of the Val Gardena

The ski lifts of the Val Gardena

Ski lifts in the Val Gardena are state-of-the-art in terms of their size, safety and fun aspects. Sporting opportunities and customer satisfaction are first class thanks to the beautiful natural landscape and thanks to the professionalism of the guides and instructors at the Superski Dolomiti complex.

The mountains that surround and bless Val Gardena are the Gardena Dolomites, of which the most impressive and famous groups are the Sella group and the Sassolungo group.
With its highest peak reaching 3,152 metres the Sella Group covers three valleys. The faces that give onto the surrounding valleys resemble rock or a castle, while on the passes you can see gentle, hilly slopes. A huge ski run complex called Sellaronda has been constructed around the Sella, pure delight for all lovers of skiing and winter sports.

The Sellaronda Ski Tour is one of the most wonderful, panoramic ski runs in the world, circumnavigating Sella Group of mountains. Thought of as rather like a ‘carousel’ by intermediate level skiers, this circular chain of slopes and pistes was once the only way the past inhabitants of the local villages had of staying in contact with each other and it was used for deer hunting. Nowadays it is modern carousel linking 4 Dolomite passes and for valleys (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Livinallongo). Following the Sellaronda you can ski around the imposing Sella Group of mountains in just one day: this means 26 kms of piste, 4 valleys and three Provinces all on one skipass.

While the Sassolungo group has become the symbol for the whole of the Val Gardena, for its steep, perpendicular, 1,000-metre ascent. In fact it is the place given over to superG pistes and downhill skiing but it is also the favourite destination of climbers and hikers, having a great number of vertical faces and buttresses which have inspired great climbing achievements. Since the war very difficult ascents have been plotted, due also to the consdirable height of the faces.

The ski complexes of the Val Gardena, anyway, have everything on offer and every year try to bring innovation and improvement to the service they provide. The most talked-about addition this season is the 8-seat chair lift, with heated seats and its restful blu paintwork, it can take you comfortably all the way to Piz Sella, in the Selva Val Gardena district. It’s the biggest chairlift in Italy.
Being just 20 seconds from the Nives skilift our hotel enables you to reach the Sellaronda in a matter of minutes: from the Hotel with your skis on your feet….
